The Federal Government on Monday, November 23rd, petitioned the Cable News Network (CNN), demanding “instant and

exhaustive research into its document on the Lekki Toll Gate killings to decide its originality and adherence to simple

requirements of investigative journalism.In the report addressed to Jonathan Hawkins VP, Communications, CNN Centre

Atlanta, Georgia U.S, the authorities stated if the global media corporation didn’t perform its demand, it will “take any

motion within its laws’’ to stop cable news from annoying the #EndSARS crisis.The petition dated November 23 and

individually signed through the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was sent to the News Agency of

Nigeria in Abuja.CNN in the “investigative’’ document had alleged that it ”exposed that Nigerian police and miltary forces

opened fire on unarmed protesters” at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, in the ongoing #EndSARS protest.The document entitled

‘How a Bloody Night of Bullets Quashed a Young Protest Movement’ became aired on November 18 through the global information agency.
