Fans celebrate Burna Boy as he joins Sade Adu as the only Nigerians to be nominated for Grammy Award twice in a row

Fans are celebrating Nigerian dancehall and reggae artiste, Damini ‘Burna Boy’ Ogulu after he bagged a nomination for the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category of the 2021 Grammys.

In the nominee list announced Tuesday evening on Grammys.com, Burna’s ‘Twice As Tall’ album was nominated alongside Antibalas’s ‘FU Chronicles’, Bebel Gilberto’s ‘Agora’, and Anoushka Shankar’s ‘Love Letters’ in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category.

Recall that he also got nominated in the 2020 edition, under the ‘Best World Music Album’ category for his ‘African Giant‘ album, but lost to Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese singer-songwriter.

Sade Adu

His second nomination has earned him a spot on the history books as he joins International multi Grammy-winning American-Nigerian singer, Sade Adu as the only Nigerians to be nominated for the prestigious award two times in a row.htt.

The last time Sade Adu was nominated twice in a row for a Grammy Award was in 1986 and 1987, the former of which she won for Best New Artist.

Burna Boy celebrated the news with a twitter post which read; “Another one ……. #TWICEASTALL”
