A newly founded organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide, has termed Igbo umbrella organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, unlawful and initiated actions to dismantle it.
Already, the organization has written to numerous safety companies, the Attorney General of the Federation (SGF), Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Inspector General of Police (IGP) and chairperson of South-East Governors’ Forum, Engr. Dave Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State, stressing the closure of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, whose incumbent President-General is Chief John Nnia Nwodo.
The letter to Governor Umahi, a replica of which was viewed via News Express, was written on behalf of the brand new organization via its solicitors, the Abuja-primarily based Amobi Nzelu & Co. Dated twenty sixth November, 2020, the letter was signed through Amobi Nzelu Esq.
The letter reads:
“RE: A CALL TO DISBAND, INVESTIGATE, PROBE AND PROSECUTE CHIEF NNIA NWODO LED ILLEGAL OHANAEZE NDIGBO: STOP ALL ACTIVITIES OF THE GROUP INCLUDING THE PURPORTED UPCOMING ELECTION SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 2020/JANUARY 2021
“We act for and on behalf of OHANAEZE NDIGBO GENERAL ASSEMBLY WORLDWIDE (hereinafter called our client) on whose guidance we address this letter to you.
“Kindly sir find as Annexures A to F letters to diverse security organizations of Nigeria government , the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation, The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Inspector General of Police, concerning the reputation of Ohanaeze Ndigbo
“The purport of this letter is to tell you sir that the stated organization (Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by CHIEF JOHN NNIA NWODO) is an unlawful affiliation which is no longer registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and to additionally assist you to recognise that any transaction with them stands on the pedestal of criminal activity .
“Furthermore, registration of affiliation is a sine qua non for legitimate illustration as it aggregates its individuals beneath one umbrella.
